If
you're prone to acne, make sure you
prep your skin with a daily oil-free
moisturizer. This will ensure your
makeup goes on smoothly and evens
out your skin. Use an oil free concealer
that is exactly the same shade as
your skin. If you go any lighter,
or too dark, the concealer will draw
attention to the blemish.
Apply
the concealer with a concealer brush,
which has smooth, synthetic bristles
that are made for cream (not powder)
formulas. Dab the concealer directly
onto the spot and then wait at least
15 seconds before you blend so that
it has time to set on the pimple.
Don’t brush the middle of the
spot; fan out the edges of the concealer
to make it blend seamlessly. You can
gently pat the middle with the brush,
but don’t rub because you will
brush too much concealer away, revealing
the redness again. Tap a thin layer
of translucent powder over the entire
area. This will help to set your makeup,
so that by mid-day the spot doesn’t
make an unwelcome appearance again.

KNOW
HOW |
Select
the Concealer
Choosing the concealer is quite an important
factor and should be determined by your
needs. Concealers are available in a range
of textures and shades and is designed
for the skin type or the the problem that
you want to camouflage. For example a
basic concealer used to cover up skin
imperfections should be about one shade
lighter than your skin tone, so that you
can blend the imperfections.
In addition to this there
are a number of color toned concealer. So
to apply concealer on pimples and acne you
would need green-toned concealer. Similarly
purple-toned concealers can lighten dark
circles under the eyes. Yellow based concealers
can effectively blend in with dark undertones.
As for the skin type, liquid concealers
perform best for dry skin and under eye
makeup while solid concealers in sticks
are preferred to cover up pimples, scars,
acne and blemishes in oily skin. Read more

Apply
Moisturizer
Before you can apply the
concealer, you need to first prepare your
skin for it. Apply moisturizer on the face
and under eye cream to the area with predominant
dark circles. Concealers can show off the
dry spots on face especially, if you have
been using acne treatments which can cause
the skin to become flaky and dry. Applying
concealers on the affected area will only
make things worse. It is thus, important
to use a mild facial scrubber and a moisturizer
before you apply the concealer. This gives
the concealer a better surface to adhere
to. Along with this you also need to decide
when to apply concealer and foundation.
So when you are using liquid or solid foundation
then you should apply the concealer only
after the foundation but for cream-to-powder
foundation concealers need to be used before
applying the foundation. BACK

Applying
the Concealer
There are a number of ways
by which you can apply the concealer on
the blemishes. Use your clean fingers or
with a makeup brush or sponge to dab on
the concealer to the skin. However, the
best way of applying concealer is by using
a small tapered concealer brush. To apply
concealer for dark circles, use a small
amount of concealer and dab 4 to 5 tiny
dots underneath each eye. Now pat them with
the brush and blend it with your ring finger
or the sponge brush. Finish off by applying
some loose powder to set the concealer in
place. Remember that the correct way of
applying concealer is by patting it and
not rubbing the concealer in.
Whether
you want to apply concealer on blemishes
or on dark circles, choose the color and
form of the concealer based on the requirement
of the face. A good rule of knowing how
to apply concealer under eyes or how to
apply concealer for black women, is that
it should be in little amount so that you
are able to see your fingertip when you
have taken the concealer on it. So what
are you waiting for? Use this with some
great eye makeup to add sparkle to your
puffy eyes. BACK
