CHOOSING YOUR FOUNDATION RIGHT

Cosmetic foundations such as powders and liquid foundation are used to create a clear, smooth skin tone-the illusion of seemingly flawless skin texture that will last as long as you desire. Foundations provide the perfect base for the application of the rest of your make up.  Foundations may be water-based, oil-based or oil-free, with varied consistencies and coverage, and are available in liquid, cream or powder form

It will give you a beautiful and flawless looking complexion. The special formula can be used both as foundation and pressed powder. Contains sunsxreen and moisturisers

Liquid foundations

These usually offer light to medium coverage, can be applied using either a sponge or a brush and are available in a wide range of colors that can be mixed to obtain in-between shades to match your skin tone (only mix cosmetic foundations of the same brand). To avoid a streaky finish place a very small amount of foundation on sponge and always brush over with powder. The powder helps the cosmetic foundations last longer. TOP

Cream foundations

When using cream-based foundations, concealer may be applied either before or after the foundation. Use a wedge-shaped latex sponge and light strokes to apply the foundation across the face. You can tell how a cream formula will cover by how it feels to the touch. The thicker and heavier it feels, the more it covers. So if it feels slightly dry it offers light to medium cover. Try not to cover too thick with cream foundation or it may look artificial and draw attention to itself. TOP

Pressed Powder

Pressed foundations give a smooth, matte finish to the skin that helps control shine. It can be applied with either a damp or dry sponge. At first, it takes practice to use the right amount of powder. This type of foundation works for all skin types and is easy to carry around since it's not as messy as loose powder. This makes it quick and handy for touch ups. It is available in more shades than loose powder. When choosing a shade, get one as close to your foundation color as you can and use lightly since it tends to accumulate on your skin during touch ups. TOP

Loose Powder

Loose Powder adds the finishing touch to your foundation and keeps you looking fresh throughout the day. Powder can be used on its own to look natural. Be careful not to use too much powder, especially around the eyes where the excess powder can settle into the fine lines. Powder based foundations have the function of combining both foundation and powder in one product. It 'sets' your foundation to make it last, it adds a matte finish to the skin that looks fresh, makes the skin seem finer by making the pores seem smaller. TOP

HOW TO APPLY YOUR FOUNDATION
  • Make sure you have clean hands and a clean face.
  • Apply moisturizer appropriate to your skin type. Let it set a few minutes, particularly if your skin is oily.
  • camouflage under-eye circles and blemishes with a concealor
  • Select a foundation that is appropriate to your skin type and the coverage you wish to achieve. The color should match your skin, disappearing when blended well.
  • Shake the bottle well to mix the formula (if you are using liquid foundation). Or, simply open a foundation stick or compact version.
  • Place a small amount of foundation on the back of one hand. Dip your makeup sponge or your middle finger into it.
  • Apply to the center of your face: cheeks, forehead, chin.
  • Blend out to your hair and jawline until the foundation vanishes. Pay special attention to blending around the nose, mouth and jawline.
  • Set the foundation with loose powder immediately following application. Apply a loose powder after you have completed the application of your foundation and concealer, and before applying eye makeup. Release powder into the top section of the container by tipping the container and gently tapping the bottom.

  • Loose powder: Tends to be messy so be careful when applying it. Loose powder does not set into fine lines as easily as pressed powder does. It will set the foundation with a little more coverage but not be as heavy as a pressed powder can be. Perfect choice if you tend to be oily!
  • Pressed powder: Very convenient and that's why we love it. It is great for touch ups throughout the day because it does give more coverage then a loose powder does. You do need to be careful because too much can make you look like your wearing powder, not exactly flawless.
  • Blot: As long as you don't have oily skin and not incredibly humid in your area, this will work great for you. You can purchase blotting tissues to keep handy or a facial tissue will work great too. Press to your face and blot softly with the tissue. It will take off the excess make up but will not mess up your makeup.
