Many
ladies probably don't know what it is
that a conditioner does to their hair.
But what exactly do beauticians refer
to when they recommend the use of any
or a particular conditioner?
Simply
put, conditioner can be termed an "assistant"
that is made to give your hair the texture,
thickness, shine or moisture that it may
lack. This precisely means that you choose
what conditioner to use in light of your
hair type, or the state your hair is in.
Conditioners fall in 6 major categories:
- Moisturisers
contain compounds that attract and
hold moisture into the hair. this
makes them the best option if your
hair is a dry,
- Reconstructors
work well to strengthen weak or damaged
hair. They contain hydrolised human
hair keratin protein which is a good
source of all the 19 amino acids found
in hair. This protein has a low molecular
weight and this enables it to penetrate
the hair shaft, thereby leaving the
hair strong and firm.
- Detanglers
are
the best remedy if your hair i sthe
kinky type that just wont detangle
after a good wash. Some of them can
be applied to either wet or dry hair
and the result will be shiny, static-free
and strong hair that has no split
ends.
- Thermal
Protectors - some
conditioners are made to protect the
hair from heat, which is one of the
major causes of hair damage. Heat
style like Ironing and hot combs drain
out the moisture in the hair, and
kill its shine. A thermal protector
conditioner will not only restore
the lost moisture, but will protect
the hair from further heat damage.
- Acidifiers
- acid is essential for closing the
cuticle of you hair, and the result
is shiny, bouncy hair. They do not
weigh the hair, but only add elasticity
thereby boosting its volume.
- Glossers
-for the most part glossers are cosmetic.
Most Glossers contain dimethicone
or cyclomethicone (very light oils
derived from silicone). Used in small
amounts they reflect light. Also,
they are one of the best products
to control hair that is frizzy (tightly
curled)
